A friend asked about the blog's name. It comes from a spanish café, Barcelona 1919. Borges and his friends used to go there. It was Barcelona 1919.

"Borges, Sus Días y su Tiempo"
Estoy releyendo el libro de María Esther Vázquez del mismo título que esta entrada.
La obra se presenta como una aproximación a Borges, no pretende ser análisis definitivo.
Este tipo de trabajos me agrada, libres de los rigores académicos del análisis literario formal, permiten que personas como yo, interesadas en la literatura en general o en un autor en particular, entiendan mejor los trabajos que les llaman la atención, con un mínimo de preparación.
La obra comienza presentando a un Borges de 65 años. Es interesante traer esto en mente, porque si bien Borges, ciertamente contaba con una gran destreza técnica en ese momento estaba diezmado por la ceguera y la soledad, la ausencia de personas similares.
Borges, según narra la autora, era bastante locuaz, buscaba obsequiar a quienes se aproximaban a él con su mayor tesoro: su cultura y su manera de ver el mundo.
A los límites físicos a los que me he referido se sumaba su estilo de vida, materialmente modesto.
Sin embargo, su obra muestra lo mucho que hizo su intelecto con tales recursos. Fue capaz de enriquecer al mundo, de enriquecernos a todos, con sus escritos.
Con unos recursos mínimos obtuvo una obra intelectualmente inmensa. Esa es la marca de un genio.
La obra se presenta como una aproximación a Borges, no pretende ser análisis definitivo.

They allow people like me, interested in literature in general or an author in particular, to understand better the work that they are interested in, with a minimum of preparation.
The book begins by presenting a 65 years old Borges. It is interesting to bring this in mind, because, while Borges, certainly had a great technical skill at that time, he was decimated by blindness and loneliness, the absence of people similar to him.
Borges, as the author narrates, was quite friendly, looking to give those who were close to him with his greatest treasure: its culture and way of seeing the world.

Welcome!
Anyone who admires the literature will easily admire Borges.
One way to remember him is to relive the moments that were pleasant for him and activities that he wanted more. Therefore I decided to open this coffee, so that his spirit would have a place where he feels comfortable and among friends, for which several of their favorite topics are still alive.
I hope that talking about Borges and the books he loved, listening to tangos and trying to understand this world we live in, and that Borges never met, let a good time, because this is what a coffe shop talk means, at any coffee that deserves that name.

Bienvenida
Quien admira la literatura fácilmente admirará a Borges. Una manera apropiada de recordarlo es rememorar los momentos que le fueron gratos y las actividades que más quiso. Por eso fue que decidí abrir este café, para que su espiritu tuviera un sitio en el que se sintiera cómodo y entre amigos, para los que varios de sus temas son todavía tema de conversación y regocijo.
Espero que hablando de Borges y los libros que tanto quiso, escuchando tangos y tratando de entender este mundo en que vivimos, y que Borges nunca conoció, pasemos un buen rato, porque de eso se trata una tertulia, en cualquier café que merezca ese nombre.
